In conjunction with the world premiere of ||: Girls :||: Chance :||: Music :|| at American Conservatory Music, the theatre is launching a program for real young artists like the fictional ones you will see on stage. Before each performance of Eisa Davis’s personally inspired musical, female-identified student musicians from Young Musicians Choral Orchestra (YMCO) will appear in public concerts on Market Street.

This program, girls play music, is a chance for young emerging artists to perform for audiences of the theatre and the public, giving us an example of the power of arts education that is presented on stage. – Ciara

“The training worked because it was couched in joy...because I could laugh and be with other students of color who loved studying and working hard. And because the program did not put a burden on us or on our parents—the program was free.” – Eisa Davis
