Union Arts Center (a merger of former organizations ACT Theatre and Seattle Shakespeare) will continue the latter’s tradition of Shakespeare in the Park this summer with Macbeth.

Known as “Wooden O,” this outdoor, traveling program has been sharing the Bard’s words with Puget Sound residents since 1994. Originally its own entity under the leadership of George Mount, Wooden O merged with Seattle Shakespeare in 2008. And now it has its newest iteration with Union Arts Center. Though the name of the producing organization may change, the formula stays the same: a Shakespeare play that is free to all in the summer at regional parks.

Macbeth will start its tour on July 9 at Luther Burbank Park in Mercer Island and will finish on August 16 at the same location. In between, 25 other performances will be staged ranging in location from Issaquah, to Lynnwood, to Seattle, and more. This year, all performances will be in the evening with a start time of either 6 or 7 p.m. – Ciara
