Pull out your calendars people, planning starts now. American Conservatory Theater has announced their 2026/27 season which includes six incredible shows and will mark Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon’s final year with the company. Subscriptions and renewals are now available with single tickets going on sale later.

If you were in the theatre for A.C.T.’s Brief Encounter in 2009 or Berkeley Rep’s The Wild Bride in 2013, you’ll recognize Emma Rice’s singular ability in adapting work for the stage. This season she returns to the Bay Area to direct North by Northwest, based on Alfred Hitchock’s 1959 film. Next, in partnership with ATG San Francisco, the bizarre, hilarious, and inventive comedy Oh, Mary! will play at Curran Theatre.

A.C.T. will collaborate with one of Encore’s partners to the north, Seattle Rep, and Center Theatre Group in bringing John Proctor is the Villian to the West Coast. This Tony Award-nominated new play will take the stage in November. After that, the team with little talent is now singing in The Bad News Bears, a world premiere musical.

A high school reunion may be a time of nerves, regrets, and insight. But through The Comeuppance you can just watch all the drama unfold from the audience. This new tragicomedy is brought to the stage in co-production with Steppenwolf Theatre Company. And closing out the season is Iraq, But Funny. As the title suggests, this comedy follows five generations of Assyrian women as they reclaim their story from some random British guy. Intrigued yet? – Ciara
