About the Artists

Hans Zimmer
Hans Zimmer has scored more than 200 projects across all mediums, which, combined, have grossed more than 28 billion dollars at the worldwide box office. He been honored with an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, three Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, and a Tony Award. Highlights of his work include Gladiator, The Thin Red Line, As Good as It Gets, Rain Man, The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Thelma and Louise, The Last Samurai, 12 Years A Slave, Blade Runner 2049 (co-scored with Benjamin Wallfisch), and Dunkirk. In 2019, Mr. Zimmer scored the live-action remake of The Lion King, for which he received a Grammy nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. His most recent films include Woman 1984, the James Bond film No Time to Die, Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune: Part II, Top Gun: Maverick, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, and The Boss Baby: Family Business. Zimmer has completed highly successful tour stops for his Hans Zimmer Live concert all around the world.

Sarah Hicks
Sarah Hicks is a conductor, educator, arranger, producer, writer, and speaker committed to creating connections through music. She has collaborated with diverse artists including Hilary Hahn, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, and Sting. Her passion for cross-genre partnerships led to a 2019 album with rap artist Dessa and the Minnesota Orchestra, where she is principal conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall.
Hicks made her San Francisco Symphony debut in July 2009 and has also worked with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Pops, Toronto Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, RTÉ Orchestra, Danish National Symphony, Czech National Symphony, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, and Malaysian Philharmonic. Her commitment to new music led to a micro-commission project, and her recording of new concertos, Triple Doubles, has been released by the Bridge label. Her interest in the intersection of mental health and music led to the production of a concert titled Music and the Mind.
Born in Japan and raised in Hawaii, Hicks is fluent in Japanese and holds degrees from Harvard University and the Curtis Institute of Music.

Sara Couden
Contralto Sara Couden is a premier interpreter of operatic, orchestral, chamber, and song repertoire. Her 2025–26 season includes a debut with Detroit Opera as Rita in Poul Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Tale, a debut with the Houston Symphony in selections from La vida breve, a role and house debut as Ježibaba in Rusalka with Pacific Northwest Opera, Die Hexe/Die Mutter in Hänsel und Gretel with Lakes Area Music Festival, and appearances with the St. Louis Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, and Tucson Symphony as the alto soloist in Handel’s Messiah.
Couden’s latest triumphs include her San Francisco Opera debut as Rita in The Handmaid’s Tale, a return to the Metropolitan Opera to cover the role of Mrs. Sedley in Peter Grimes, her debut appearance in recital at the Manchester Music Festival, and a role debut as Baba the Turk in The Rake’s Progress with Lakes Area Music Festival. She made company debuts with the Philadelphia Orchestra as Mother/Chinese Cup/Dragon Fly in L’enfant et les sortilèges, Cincinnati Symphony as the alto soloist in Julia Perry’s Stabat Mater, Seattle Symphony in Handel’s Messiah, and the California Symphony in songs by Mahler. Couden also recently released her debut solo album, the Complete Vocal Works of Artur Schnabel, on the Steinway & Sons label. She made her San Francisco Symphony debut in February 2017.
