May is packed with inclusive performances all over Seattle, offering ASL interpretation, open captions, audio description, and sensory-friendly options. ACT Theatre premieres Golden, a brand-new play with ASL and audio-described performances early in the month. The Broadway smash Six hits The Paramount Theatre with a full range of access dates, including ASL, open captioning, and audio description. Over at Seattle Opera, Tosca is onstage with open captioning at every performance and audio description available on select dates. Families can check out The Pa‘akai We Bring at Seattle Children’s Theatre, which includes both ASL and sensory-friendly performances. And don’t miss Laughs in Spanish at Seattle Rep, Once Upon a Mattress at Red Curtain, Juno Birch at STG, and Jersey Boys at Village Theatre—all offering inclusive access so more people can enjoy the magic of live performance.

On the Stage

This week, we’re expanding the calendar you know and love. Alongside current performances, we’ll now highlight special events like inclusive shows, pay-what-you-can days, and more. It’s one more way Encore+ is promoting the performing arts that are welcoming for all.

It’s time to get that GIVING feeling. Plus, join ACT for a one-of-a-kind community event surrounding Golden.

  • GiveBIG is coming up next week! Washington’s largest online donation campaign is May 6 and 7. Nonprofits are the foundation of strong communities. They are our safety nets, our innovation hubs, and our champions for change. At a time when many organizations are facing immense challenges, there’s a proven solution that we can all take: Giving! Whether you give now, or next week, you can make a difference in your community and your state.
  • On May 4, ACT Theatre hosts Golden Community Day—a full celebration built around Golden, the new play by Andrew Lee Creech. Events include a youth-focused pre-show chat with the playwright, a 2 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m. evening performance, and a 4 p.m. celebration of Black artistic excellence featuring speakers, panelists, visual art, live performances, food, and more.
Keep exploring, supporting, and showing up.
