Welcome

A Note From Seattle Theatre Group

On behalf of Seattle Theatre Group’s staff, board, and volunteers, welcome to the historic Paramount Theatre for this performance of Six. This is the second time this fabulous production graces our stage in Seattle, and I could not be more thrilled for our community to experience the magic and fun of this pop-rock take on some of history’s most powerful and headstrong women.

The arts have long been an essential part of Downtown Seattle’s economy, including the Historic Theatre District, which STG venues The Paramount and The Moore are members of—we believe it is important to preserve the nonprofit operations of historic theatres in this community. As a nonprofit, we provide a balance of historic preservation and community engagement. I am excited to share that STG is the proud new leaseholder and operator of the historic 5th Avenue Theatre venue, a space that is an anchor of Seattle’s nonprofit arts community and has been home to The 5th Avenue Theatre Company for nearly five decades. This arrangement is part of a new alliance between STG and The 5th Avenue Theatre Company, which strengthens the arts in Downtown Seattle and emphasizes the importance of the Downtown core to our city’s economy. Our alliance empowers The 5th Avenue Theatre Company to focus on creating locally-produced musicals and allows STG to do what we do best—steward historic venues and present diverse performing arts programming. In this alliance, STG and The 5th Avenue Theatre Company will maintain separate statuses as independent, nonprofit arts organizations with distinct programming, missions, and identities.

As leaseholder, The 5th Avenue Theatre venue joins STG’s family of historic arts spaces—The Paramount, The Moore, The Neptune, and Kerry Hall—with all day-to-day operations and work related to its upkeep and preservation under our care. We have the expertise to maintain these buildings while operating a full calendar of diverse programming tailored to the members of our community.

For you, our wonderful audience, this means even more opportunities to experience live performances in Downtown Seattle! The 5th Avenue Theatre Company will continue to produce as the resident company of The 5th Avenue Theatre venue and when they are not in production, STG will program concerts, comedy, dance, and performances of all other genres at the venue, which we expect to begin in fall of this year. Visit stgpresents.org to stay up to date on our upcoming programming at the venue.

Thank you for being here and sharing your love for the arts with our community. We look forward to seeing you here at The Paramount or another one of our historic spaces for your next visit. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy Six!

Kindest regards,

Josh LaBelle
Executive Director
Seattle Theatre Group

The female cast are backed by an all-female band, the “Ladies in Waiting.” Songs from the studio album are streamed on average 300,000 times per day, making it the second highest streaming cast recording in the world.

We are gathered in this theatre on the traditional unceded homelands of the Council of the Coast Salish peoples, along with many other tribes that also called this area home. The entire team at SIX acknowledges these indigenous communities, the original stewards of this land; their elders both past and present; as well as future generations.

Please be advised that smoke, haze, and strobe lights are used during the performance.
