The 2025 Gregory Awards highlights the best of Puget Sound artists and performances with John Bradshaw winning the Sustained Achievement Award. Plus, the Scottish Highlands come to Village Theatre and Seattle Opera offers a beloved market for the holidays.
John Bradshaw has been a driving force in Seattle theatre for decades, and in 2025 he was recognized as a Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award Honoree—a well-deserved nod to his lifelong impact on the city’s cultural scene. A University of Washington graduate, Bradshaw began his career behind the scenes as a stagehand, sound operator, and stage manager, including his first paid role at Seattle Children’s Theatre. From those early days, he built a career rooted in both the craft and the administration of theatre, taking on leadership roles at ACT, Intiman, The Empty Space, and Seattle Children’s Theatre.
As Managing Director at Seattle Shakespeare Company, Bradshaw led more than 20 years of growth and innovation—tripling audiences, launching statewide education programs, and spearheading a capital campaign that raised over $3 million. Most recently, he played a pivotal role in merging Seattle Shakespeare Company with ACT Contemporary Theatre to create the Union Arts Center, ushering in an exciting new chapter of collaboration, artistic excellence, and community engagement.
Beyond his work at individual theatres, Bradshaw has been a tireless advocate for the wider arts community, serving on boards like Theatre Puget Sound and the Washington State Arts Alliance Foundation, and helping launch TeenTix, a groundbreaking program that expands access to the arts for young audiences. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Melissa Hines Award for Outstanding Theatre Practitioner in 2012.
Through all of this, Bradshaw has remained connected to the magic of live performance—stage managing productions, championing artists, and ensuring audiences of all ages have access to transformative storytelling. Today, as he leads Union Arts Center, Bradshaw continues to shape Seattle theatre with vision, heart, and an unwavering commitment to the power of live art.
