West Edge Opera will keep you busy this month

The final weekend of West Edge Opera’s 2026 Festival is almost upon us. Over the next two days, you have the option to see one, two, or all three of the festival’s performances. On Saturday afternoon, experience Handel and Rossi’s Rinaldo, an adventure following the titular character as he battles to save his love from a sorceress. In the evening, go for something a little spookier with The Turn of the Screw, a celebrated adaptation of Benjamin Britten’s classic ghost story. And on Sunday, take in a love story that imagines the relationship between American artist John Singer Sargent and his must, Thomas Eugene McKeller, with American Apollo.

Although the festival is closing, West Edge Opera is keeping things rolling with an orchestral preview performance of Claude & Marcel on August 23. This powerful story of artistic and romantic partners is the third full length opera to be commissioned and developed by the company and will premiere next summer. — Ciara
