Who’s your favorite new opera star?
The Bay Area’s weekly roundup of arts, culture, and community | July 17 to 31, 2026
Have you recently found yourself scouring your Encore program for the name of a singer on stage? Maybe it was someone you haven’t seen before—a singer that memorized you with their performance—and one that you want to see on stage again soon.
Now is your chance to share your thoughts. Voting is open for the Emerging Stars Competition with San Francisco Opera. Now through August 5 you can vote for your favorite breakout performer from the past season.
Past winners of the award have included soprano Karen Chia-ling Ho, countertenor Carlo Vistoli, baritone Lucas Meachem, and tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz. — Ciara
