A.C.T. beyond the mainstage
The Bay Area’s weekly roundup of arts, culture, and community | October 23 to 29, 2026
American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) has announced a new series that will bring limited engagements, guest artists, and other live performances to their Strand Theater. ACTivate is an initiative that will run alongside A.C.T.’s mainstage season, bringing even more events to the Bay Area throughout the year.
“ACTivate gives us the freedom to respond to exciting artists and ideas as they emerge,” said Andy Chan Donald, Acting Artistic Director and Artistic Producing Director at A.C.T. “The Strand has always been an incredibly flexible space, and this initiative allows us to embrace that versatility by welcoming performances and experiences that expand what audiences might expect from A.C.T. It’s an invitation to discover something unexpected, brand new, and often irreverent every time you walk through our doors.”
The new series begins this month with Every Saturday Night, presented by San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Company, running now through November 1. — Ciara
