A new chapter for Book-It

The pandemic changed the future of many nonprofit organizations. Some reorganized, some combined, and some were forced to shut down. One of these that we said goodbye to, Book-It Repertory Theatre, is coming back for its second year as a restructured company.
While the organization may look a little different, it is still helmed by co-founding artistic directors Jane Jones and Myra Platt. Instead of a full season, Book-It is producing one show a year and this year it will be Brian Doyle’s Mink River. In November, the company returns to their former home at Center Theatre in the Armory.
Mink River will be shown in two parts. Audiences can choose Part I, Part II, or a double showing of both. The show is centered on Salish and Irish storytelling cultures, including a mischievous talking crow named Moses, in a moving celebration of resilience, humor, and belonging. It’s a perfect story to express Seattle’s love of the written word and the power of performance. — Ciara
