Seattle Rep and Seattle Children’s Theatre to Share Resources
Seattle Rep and Seattle Children’s Theatre announce they will share box office and administrative services.
Seattle Rep and Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) are joining forces to share resources and improve customer service. Starting this month, the theatres will share staff for key functions like IT and videography, which will help fill staffing gaps and boost sustainability.
In September, Seattle Rep will handle the box office for both theatres, so you can buy or change tickets for either venue with a single call or email. You'll still use the usual contact info for each box office during the transition.
Jeffrey Herrmann from Seattle Rep says this move makes sense because of their strong customer service. Kevin Malgesini from SCT adds that it will create more career opportunities and consistent service for theatergoers.
The switch will be complete by September 26, just in time for SCT's 50th anniversary season and Seattle Rep’s 62nd season. This is a pilot program for the 2024/25 season, with plans to expand if it goes well.
“Seattle Rep and Seattle Children's Theatre are critical participants in the Washington state arts and culture community and their willingness to cooperate around shared solutions is encouraging to see.”
This partnership is based on studies that found shared box office services to be beneficial. Michael Greer from ArtsFund supports the initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the arts. “Arts organizations are confronting shifting realities with new and innovative solutions that rely on collaborative approaches,” said Greer. “Seattle Rep and Seattle Children's Theatre are critical participants in the Washington state arts and culture community and their willingness to cooperate around shared solutions is encouraging to see.”
By working together, Seattle Rep and SCT aim to ensure a strong future for both theatres.
