About the Artists

Julian Pellicano

Julian Pellicano is the newly appointed music director of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, a conductor on the staff of the National Ballet of Canada, and music director of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He previously served as associate conductor of the Winnipeg Symphony, and has appeared with the Vancouver Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Edmonton Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Utah Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Florida Orchestra, Vermont Symphony, Hong Kong Ballet, and Valencia Orchestra, among others.

Highly experienced with live-to-film performances, Pellicano’s film project credits encompass more than 35 titles including Miloš Forman’s Amadeus, many legendary films scored by John Williams, Fritz Lang’s Metropolis with its original 1927 score, as well as recent blockbusters and classic Hollywood films. He makes his San Francisco Symphony debut with these performances.

Pellicano studied conducting at the Yale School of Music and percussion at the Peabody Conservatory and Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He also holds a degree in philosophy from Johns Hopkins University.
