Meany Center explores interconnecting worlds
The Puget Sound’s weekly roundup of arts, culture, and community | April 10 to 16, 2026
More than an arbitrary selection of events, Meany Center for the Performing Arts’ 2026/27 season is a cultivated collection based on a central idea: The Interdependence of Worlds. Next season, Peter Sellars returns as artistic partner while his multiyear residency at the University of Washington continues. “Everything I do involves working with others,” said Sellars, “and across many years I have had the pleasure of working with exceptional artists from many disciplines, cultures, geographies and spiritual orientations who bear many gifts from many worlds, and who create new communities of sound, action and light.”
At the center of Sellars’ season is a staging of the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s Music to Accompany a Departure on May 8. This arrangement follows his production of Lagrime di San Pietro in Meany’s 2022/23 season as a piece of a three-part journey which Sellars called “a ceremony of leave-taking for our time.”
Along with Sellars’ artistic pursuits in this season, Meany Center presents five different series including Dance, Chamber Music, Piano, Crossroads, and Special Events. Check out an introduction to the season with a video from Meany. – Ciara
