Gregory Alan Isakov with the San Francisco Symphony

Christopher Dragon is music director of the Greensboro Symphony, music director of the Philly Pops, former music director of the Wyoming Symphony, and resident conductor of the Colorado Symphony. He was also previously assistant conductor of the West Australian Symphony.

Dragon’s guest appearances include the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, National Symphony, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, WDR Funkhausorchester, Singapore Symphony, Porto Alegre Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, West Australian Symphony, and New Zealand Symphony. His 2015 debut at the Sydney Opera House with John Pyke and the Sydney Symphony was released by ABC Music and won an Australian Recording Industry Association Music Award. He made his San Francisco Symphony debut in March 2022.

Born in Johannesburg, raised in Philadelphia, and now calling Colorado home, horticulturist and musician Gregory Alan Isakov has cast an impressive presence on the indie-rock and folk worlds. Celebrated as one of today’s most compelling and poetic singer-songwriters, Isakov has released six studio albums to date: That Sea, The Gambler; This Empty Northern Hemisphere; The Weatherman; Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado Symphony; Evening Machines; and most recently Appaloosa Bones.

The Grammy-nominated musician tours internationally with his band and has performed with orchestras across the United States. Isakov makes his San Francisco Symphony debut with this concert.

Beloved by his devoted community of fans and critics alike, Isakov has collaborated on recently released songs with Sylvan Esso, Noah Kahan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Shovels & Rope, Kacey Musgraves, and Jeremiah Fraites (of The Lumineers). 

When he is not on the road, Isakov spends much of his time writing and recording songs in his barn studio, as well as running Starling Farm (his farm in Boulder County, Colorado), which provides produce to the farm’s CSA members, local restaurants, and the local food bank Community Food Share.
